The mistakes on repubblica.it (or how to flush Italian grammar down the toilet)

This article was written in Italian and translated into English. Read the original

When I was a kid (in the 1980s) I remember very well my father always telling me that newspapers were the "official" source of the Italian language. If you had a doubt about how to spell a word, you had to look there: if it had appeared in the newspaper, then that word existed, and it was spelled exactly that way. Guaranteed. Lemon-fresh...

Now, I'm not a great scholar of the Italian language, and I too make plenty of mistakes and blunders - and, I admit it, I'm quite ignorant when it comes to grammatical analysis... but for years now I have been watching an inexorable decline in many Italian journalism websites, one among many being the Repubblica website, www.repubblica.it - where by now grammatical ignorance is present, in a very evident and heavy way, in practically every article. And if even I manage to notice it, then it is really serious...

Of course, if we were to take our cue from newspapers today, ten more dictionaries wouldn't be enough for all the "new" words we would have to add...

Direi che l'argomento è leggermente diverso: in un mondo un cui ci sono correttori ortografici pure nel display della lavatrice, come porc@,acc#, malediz&, può essere che passino questi errori!?!?
